Contact us

One address, corrections first. If you have a live complaint about an agency, the second half of this page points you somewhere that can actually help.

How to reach us

Everything comes to one address. Putting the right word at the start of the subject line gets it to the right place faster.

hello@toplettingagents.co.uk

  • Correction if something on the site is wrong. These are handled first, ahead of everything else.
  • Agency if you work at a ranked agency and want to update your entry or exercise a right of reply.
  • City to suggest a city we should cover next.
  • Press for anything to do with the method or the data behind it.

Corrections come first

A ranking is only worth reading if it is accurate, so a correction beats every other message in the queue. Tell us what is wrong, what it should say and where we can verify it. Anything factual and evidenced is fixed quickly, and the page carries the date it was last checked so readers can see when it changed.

We publish the source of every figure for exactly this reason. If a review count has moved, a certificate has been renewed or an accreditation has changed, that is easy to fix. If we have described a business incorrectly, that is more serious and it gets fixed the same way.

What this site cannot do

This is a review and comparison site. It is not a regulator, an ombudsman or a legal service, and it has no power over any letting agency. We cannot investigate a complaint, order an agency to act, recover a deposit or award compensation. If you have a live dispute, the routes below can actually help and we cannot.

England

  • A complaint about a letting agent. Complain to the agency in writing first and give it eight weeks, then escalate to its redress scheme, either The Property Ombudsman or the Property Redress Scheme. Membership is compulsory and the service is free to you.
  • A deposit dispute. Use the free adjudication offered by the scheme holding the deposit.
  • A property that is unsafe or unfit. Contact environmental health at the local council.

Scotland

  • A complaint about a letting agent. Complain to the agency first, then apply to the First-tier Tribunal for Scotland, Housing and Property Chamber, for breach of the statutory Letting Agent Code of Practice. Applying is free.
  • A deposit dispute. Use the free adjudication offered by the approved scheme holding the deposit.
  • Repairs, or the repairing standard. The same tribunal, which can order works.
  • An unregistered landlord or agent. Report it to the council, which enforces registration.

What we will not do

We do not accept payment for a listing, a position, a link or a mention, and we do not take advertising. We do not remove an accurate entry because an agency dislikes it. We do not write about individual named members of staff at an agency, and we do not publish complaints about them.
